Fed: unions wanted Cole inquiry - Abbott
CANBERRA, Feb 24 AAP - The Cole Royal Commission into the construction industry wasset up partly in response to union claims of criminal infiltration, federal WorkplaceRelations Minister Tony Abbott said today.
Despite union assertions the inquiry has been a witchhunt into the unions, no groupin particular would be targeted by the government, Mr Abbott said.
Commissioner Terence Cole is due to hand a 23-volume final report to Governor-GeneralPeter Hollingworth today.
The government is expected to table the report in parliament next month and to respondsoon after.
